Case Studies

Case Study 1: Elevating Emma’s Enthusiasm for Engineering
Background:
Emma, a bright 14-year-old from Berkshire, always had a fascination with machines. While she performed well in her school’s general science curriculum, she felt something was lacking. She wanted to delve deeper into engineering concepts, especially with real-world applications.
Challenge:
Emma’s school curriculum provided foundational science knowledge but lacked specific engineering modules. She wanted hands-on experience, a bridge between academic theories and practical work.
Solution:
Emma’s parents enrolled her in “Education Other Ways”. The program not only strengthened her foundational science concepts but introduced her to practical engineering tasks. She had the opportunity to collaborate on small engineering projects, learning the intricacies of design, testing, and iteration. The curriculum also incorporated guest sessions with professionals from REME, giving Emma a genuine glimpse into the engineering world.
Outcome:
Emma’s enthusiasm for engineering soared. Not only did she ace her science subjects in school, but she also developed a working prototype of a water purification system as a personal project. Her newfound skills and confidence led her to participate in regional science fairs, earning her recognition and several accolades.

Case Study 2: James’ Journey from Struggling Student to Star Mathematician
Background:
James, a 12-year-old from southeast England, had always found maths challenging. Numbers, formulas, and equations seemed like insurmountable obstacles. Despite his efforts, he lagged behind his peers, which severely affected his confidence.
Challenge:
Traditional teaching methods didn’t resonate with James. He needed a more personalised approach, one that would cater to his unique learning style and pace.
Solution:
James’ parents, upon recommendation, decided to try “Education Other Ways”. The program offered him personalised tutoring sessions, understanding his specific challenges and strengths. Tutors employed visual aids, real-world applications of mathematical concepts, and interactive tools to make maths more relatable and engaging. The collaborative learning environment, coupled with one-on-one sessions, ensured James received the attention he needed.
Outcome:
The tailored approach worked wonders. James gradually overcame his fear of maths. He began to see patterns, understand concepts, and apply them with ease. By the end of the academic year, not only had he caught up with his peers, but he also excelled, becoming one of the top-performing students in maths. Moreover, the complimentary coaching sessions offered by “Education Other Ways” ensured he had a platform to address any subsequent challenges, solidifying his foundation in the subject.
These case studies highlight the transformative impact of a holistic, personalised, and real-world integrated approach to education.
